Commenting on the votes in the House of Lords this evening, the Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the Lords, Lord Newby said:
“The House of Lords has repeatedly voted against this reckless Bill, and yet this Conservative Government continues to push through a policy that surely even they must know will never work.
“What the government should be doing is focusing on the sky high asylum backlog and creating legal, safe routes, rather than wasting hundreds of millions of hard working taxpayers’ money.”
