What can you expect when volunteering with the Lib Dems?

Fun! The first thing you can expect is to have fun and meet some really great people. Getting involved in the party is an exciting and diverse experience. You can get involved as much or as little as you like, there is something for everyone.

Our volunteers are vital to our success, we can’t win elections without you. There are loads of of different ways you can help get more Lib Dems elected, at all levels. From helping write party policy, to standing as a candidate, to delivering a few leaflets.

Your local party will be your first point of contact for getting involved. If you don’t know who they are already, you can find out here, or contact us directly using this form.

Don’t worry, you won’t be on your own! We have loads of training and support for you to check out on our resources page. But also, your local party will give you all the information you need to get started.

What are the different ways I can get involved?

Campaigning

Could you help delivering leaflets and knocking on doors? Sparing just an hour or two a month could make a real difference. Talk to your local party about how you can get involved.

Being a local party officer

Our party is structured into local parties campaign in one or two seats. Each local party has an executive who organise everything from the local finances, to the membership data to organising the monthly pub visits. So whatever your strengths, there will be something for you! Each local party has their own way of organising, but you can see the difference roles and support we have here.

Standing in a local election

Elections at all levels need candidates, whether you’re standing somewhere we can win or just to make sure everyone has the option to vote for a Lib Dem. Standing is a really rewarding experience, and nothing like anything else! Find out more about standing and being a councillor here.

Standing in a General Election

Being a parliamentary candidate might seem scary, but we need some great leaders to take on this awesome challenge. Find out more about the approval process and what it is like to stand in a General Election here.

Make party policy

Unlike other political parties, all of our policy is decided by our members and is voted on at our two party conferences every year. Find out more about how conference works and how you can help make policy here.
